Week 4 – Janitor Closet
This week I challenged Matt to pick one of the characters he designed from a previous week, and design an interior space where that character might live… or in my case, where the character is stored!
This took me way too long. I haven’t done much environment work, never mind interior spaces, so I picked a pretty easy perspective and room shape—and then over-compensated by adding a gagillion details…
I’m pretty happy with the result though!

My post this week over at Satchsimp, a weekly concept art challenge me and my friend Matt started!

Week 2 — Alien Freedom Fighter
Why are technologically advanced aliens always invading earth? Why not the other way around?
This is an alien freedom fighter from another world that’s been taken over by colonialistic Earthlings! Their technology is pseudo-medieval, so instead of guns they’re fighting us with mini-crossbows and cosmic swords. Can they ever hope to rescue their planet from the Earthling occupation?

Graded Sheridan Portfolio
I found out a little while ago that I got into the Sheridan illustration program! Something that really helped me to assure my work was of high enough quality was looking at other successful applicant’s submissions, so to return the favour to the universe, and help out future applicants, here’s my graded portfolio, mark sheet included! I tried embedding it but that doesn’t seem to work on tumblr, so click here to see it.

I’ve got some cards I made for people and stuff to post that I’ve been meaning to but in the meantime look at this old lady.

Another Digimon from memory/description! I didn’t look up Patamon, but unfortunately I have a pretty good mental image of what he looks like, so the similarity is less of a fluke here than it was with Ikkakumon. I tried to draw based just on the description as much as possible, and I like the result, but it looks a little more like a deliberate re-imagining. :p
These are fun! Send me more descriptions followers, I’ve run out and I wanna do more!!! Just not Botamon, Koromon, Augomon or Gatomon, because I also know what they look like really well! :p
From my friend Nicole:Can you draw Patamon? He has an oval hamster-like body and no neck with short and relatively small limbs and 3 small black toes on each. He is orange with a tan belly, big adorable blue eyes, and big bat-like wings that are placed like ears pointing behind him. He has a small stub of a tail, no visible nose, runs on 4 legs, stands on 2, and flies of course!

So I stumbled onto Laura Bifano’s Pokemon blog today, where she draws pokemon just from a description without looking at the actual pokemon, and decided to try the same thing, but with DIGIMON! :D
Feel free to submit descriptions! Just gimme the name and a description approximately as detailed as the ones on Laura’s blog.
My first description comes from my buddy Connor and is as follows.
Ikkakumon:
He’s like a giant, white walrus with heavy fur. His fur is heavier on his head, giving him a beard and a heavy shag haircut. You can think of the shag haircut more as a mane. Like what lions have. It’s a little hard to tell from this photo. Heavier, thicker fur on and around his head. And he has what can best be described as a beard.
Big, white, heavy-haired walrus, with a Unicorn horn, and jowls.
Large front paws/claws that act as feet. He is a tetrapod, but he’s big enough that his belly is usually touching the ground. No tail, he has back feet.
